Behind the dress: The Myri Story

ERRE clothing is about creating clothes that suit your lifestyle. In developing this dress, we aimed to flatter a variety of body types with which to recognize all women. The Myri, named for the myriad of ways it can be worn, is a dress with classic lines.

 The Classical Influence

As with all draped dresses, the Myri is rooted in classical Greek design. With the Myri, we were aiming for a “classical” design that would last more than one season. The classical Greek garment called the Chiton or robe, was the basis of the ancient Greek wardrobe and has influenced every item of draping since.

The Myri was inspired in part by looking at iconic dresses from the 20th century that have stood the test of time. Madame Gres understood that draped garments would fit perfectly into the modern women’s lifestyles. Here: Madame Grès evening gown Vogue 1950

Democratically Dressed

Two months of experimentation resulted in a dress that can fit all sizes and create multiple, easily achievable looks by simply raising the hemline or buttoning the sleeves. For a meeting, a powerful look is created by using the dress as a knee-length with sleeves, for a trip to the beach wear it as a cover-up, and for an evening out wear it long with a cape.

The ERRE design process includes testing our designs by wearing them extensively to see how they stand the test of daily living. The same applies to textiles – we experiment with various options to see which fabrics are more appropriate to a given design - both for looks and convenience.

ERRE Fashion invited women, representing a range of body types to try the Myri, instinctively, each woman wore it to suit her body type and taste. Without sacrificing variety, the Myri replace at least five other items of clothing.

It is for this reason that the Myri is a powerful clothing item. It has been created with women in mind. This dress is for women who need select, beautiful pieces in their wardrobe that can easily take them from day to evening, no matter what your size.

In developing the Myri we experimented with draping in order to create a flattering yet versatile dress. It was only after much experimentation did we realized that the dress is multi-way. Above: studio scenes while developing the Myri.
